Good day/night, my little chickadees!
How is everyone doing? If you’re in the United States, you might be getting ready for a much needed long weekend. I know I am and mine actually starts tonight! Pretty excited about that. I’ll be spending it with my nose firmly placed against the grindstone though. I NEED to finish my WIP. It has been a long, hard haul. Not sure when a project has taken me this long to complete, if ever. That’ll teach me to broaden my damn horizons! But if I still can’t get over/through/under/around this block, I’ll probably start something else. I’m thinking a fun, silly novella. The idea is ridiculous. We’ll see what happens.
But, onto the REAL news of the day! My latest (greatest?) novel was just released from Belfire Press yesterday and you can pick it up in a wide variety of formats: paperback, Kindle and various others via Smashwords. I really hope people dig this one. It might be my favorite.
I’m so happy about being part of the Belfire Press family. The wonderful Jodi Lee and her team of editing elves were and are an absolute joy to work with. Definitely do yourself a favor and visit their store to pick up a book or two. There is a bunch of stuff to choose from.
Anyway, it’s back to coffee and brainstorming for me. Have a fantastic weekend and offer a smile to everyone you meet!

not particularly surprising, but I have quite clearly failed at my NY resolution of blogging here three times a week. bummer. but this particular blog counts, right? even though I’m just blogging about not blogging.
as always, I wish I could talk about certain things going on behind the scenes, but I can’t. yet. I will as soon as I am able and I think my readers will be pretty excited by the news. it IS exciting, if it all works out. (the likelihood of it actually working out is pretty slim, which will make it that much more exciting if it does. keep your fingers crossed!)

We’re two weeks away from the release of my new novel, Rumors of My Death- a wacky ride through the worst days of Diz Aster’s life. I really like this novel-it shows the huge influence that the screwball comedy movies of the 30’s and 40’s had on me as a kid (yes, I was an odd kid) and still have on me today.
If you like my less serious stuff, you should definitely check this one out. I’m pretty sure you’ll dig it. I think it has kind of a Christopher Moore type goofiness about it.

yep, it’s true. I was finally able to lower the prices on some of my paperback novellas. starting RIGHT NOW, you can get Suicide Girls, Wall of Kiss and/or Mother Puncher for $4.99 at Amazon. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for quite a while and given my observations of last week, the deal finally went through at the (almost) perfect time.
note: the key word is FINALLY. been trying to make this happen for months now.

(as an aside, what the hell is up with this new wordpress dealio? it’s weird and I don’t like it. BOO! a pox upon the wordpress minions!)
at least, that has been my experience of late.
ebooks are doing pretty good. paperbacks are hardly moving. I’m pretty sure this isn’t a phenomenon exclusive to me. other writers I’ve spoken to are experiencing the same thing.
but here is my question-why?
everywhere you look, there are folks who still love the feel of a dead tree book in their hands. plenty of them. and that’s cool. I love books myself. so, this leads me to wonder if the people who really like good old fashioned books have become somewhat resentful of the low prices of ebooks, which, if true, is kind of a lose-lose situation, because I don’t see many publishers other than the huge ones charging an arm and a leg for an ebook. and even if they did, would they sell for anyone but the hugest names in the industry? but everyone knows an ebook costs pretty much nothing to produce, whereas putting a physical copy in someone’s hands does cost money. so what’s the beef, really?
maybe I’m just being a moron. I don’t know. I’m pretty tired and basically just rambling, thinking out loud, but I’d love to hear anyone’s opinion on this subject, if you have one.
I’d like to get to the bottom of this mystery. could there be another reason, beside the money issue? are you someone who has stopped buying paperbacks for a reason other than you prefer your e-reader? I know money is tight, but the difference is huge. and, I know you’re out there, peanut gallery (they’re not selling ’cause you suck ostrich eggs, ranalli!) but other than that, what’s different?
I might post more about this at some point, because I’m interested and my mind is whirling and I’m avoiding fiction writing.

hey all! how’s your week going so far? I’m really tired for some reason. gotta load myself up on coffee and try to focus my brain on this book that has been an absolute bitch to finish. I’m at the halfway point now, and getting there was difficult, but the second half is proving to be even more so. I went into this project with the idea that I wanted to challenge myself, which is what I try to do every time out, and that’s also why I refuse to stick with one genre, but sometimes being ambitious is tough. haha.
I’ll pound it out eventually. I’m extremely lucky that the publisher I’m writing this for has been inhumanly patient. they might literally be saints. 😉
