Sexual Assault Prevention Tips!

Posted by Gina on May 8, 2010

I came across this list somewhere-no clue who wrote it. But, in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, I thought I share it with you all. You should read it and memorize it, for the good of all humankind.

Sexual Assault Prevention Tips Guaranteed to Work!

1. Don’t put drugs in people’s drinks in order to control their behavior.

2. When you see someone walking by themselves, leave them alone!

3. If you pull over to help someone with car problems, remember not to assault them!

4. NEVER open an unlocked door or window uninvited.

5. If you are in an elevator and someone else gets in, DON’T ASSAULT THEM!

6. Remember, people go to laundry to do their laundry, do not attempt to molest someone who is alone in a laundry room.

7. USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM! If you are not able to stop yourself from assaulting people, ask a friend to stay with you while you are in public.

8. Always be honest with people! Don’t pretend to be a caring friend in order to gain the trust of someone you want to assault. Consider telling them you plan to assault them. If you don’t communicate your intentions, the other person may take that as a sign that you do not plan to rape them.

9. Don’t forget: you can’t have sex with someone unless they are awake!

10. Carry a whistle! If you are worried you might assault someone “on accident” you can hand it to the person you are with, so they can blow it if you do.

And, ALWAYS REMEMBER: if you didn’t ask permission and then respect the answer the first time, you are commiting a crime — no matter how “into it” others appear to be.

“To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in the United States. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.”

I was going to put up a bunch of links and whatnot but the above is a great site with a lot of info. My hope is that you guys will check it out and give it some thought and pass it on to others. No woman should live in fear and maybe someday we’ll no longer have to.

PEACE! ❤

Just came across this old thingamabob: The New Absurdist Web Death 2007. Old stories by myself, Kevin Donihe, Bradley Sands and a bunch of other cool-ass writers. Lots of blast-from-the-past fun in there. Perfect if you’re in the mood for a little bite of weird. Weird is tasty, after all. 🙂

Just came across another old story I had published in an anthology many moons ago. The book is long out of print, but you can read the story HERE if you care to. I didn’t re-read it-hopefully it doesn’t suck.

As always, love to all and thanks for the support! 🙂

Great Coscom News!

One of my publishers recently announced some really exciting news:

“Coscom Entertainment is pleased to announce that Simon and Schuster’s Gallery Books imprint (formerly Pocket Books) has acquired the rights to reprint two of its mashup novels, The War of the Worlds Plus Blood, Guts and Zombies by H.G. Wells and Eric S. Brown, as well as Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Zombie Jim by Mark Twain and W. Bill Czolgosz.

We’re thrilled as a company to be a part of this deal as well as having the wonderful opportunity to co-brand these titles with Gallery Books.

“This is just awesome and so far everything has been great between myself, Gallery and my agent behind-the-scenes. It’s exciting because this isn’t just about reprinting a couple of books with them. This is an opportunity to now let Coscom Entertainment have a foot in the mass market scene, and I’m eager to see where the success of these upcoming books takes my writers and the company as a whole,” says Coscom Entertainment Publisher A.P. Fuchs.

Here’s to the future, and a special congrats to the authors involved. Likewise, a public thank you to Coscom’s agent, Evan Gregory of the Ethan Ellenberg Literary Agency of New York, for arranging the deal.

(As a side note, the current editions of these books will be going out of print in the next few months so if you’re a collector, now would be a good time to snag one of the original Coscom Entertainment editions while they’re still available. Thanks.)”

Very happy for all involved! Congrats, guys!

Brand new ebook version of Suicide Girls in the Afterlife is available to order now. There will probably be other ebooks coming soon too. This is an avenue I’ve wanted to explore for a while now, so I’m pretty happy. You can also read a free sample before you buy, which is super-cool!

Please pass this info along and Happy reading!
