The Nothing Post

I was hoping to have some news for you guys today, but no such luck. Sorry about that, but the publishing world, unfortunately, moves at a glacial pace sometimes (most times!)

But, take heart, they can’t keep us waiting forever, right? Actually, they probably could, but we’ll ignore that fact in order to maintain our cavity-inducing positivity today. Maybe I’ll have some news Tuesday. I hope so. But, either way, there are great things on the horizon, so check back soon!

Have an awesome week!

Always full of wisdom…

“Ah! Realize your youth while you have it. Don’t squander the gold of your days, listening to the tedious, trying to improve the hopeless failure, or giving away your life to the ignorant, the common, and the vulgar. These are the sickly aims, the false ideals, of our age. Live! Live the wonderful life that is in you! Let nothing be lost upon you. Be always searching for new sensations. Be afraid of nothing.”

Resolutions and Chemical Gardens

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Woo! I hope you guys all had an outstanding holiday season, if celebrating is your thing. If not, I still hope you had a great December! I had a pretty good one, enjoyed some down time, which was nice.

But now it’s back to work and first up is the news that I’m offering Chemical Gardens FREE for Kindle for a little while. A lot of folks have told me this one is their favorite of my books and I have to admit I’m pretty fond of it myself, given its overall insanity. So, pick that one up if you are so inclined. Hopefully, you’ll like it and maybe leave a review somewhere, which is always appreciated.

And with the new year, comes new resolutions. I haven’t made a whole lot, but along with increasing my work output, I’m also resolving here and now to update this blog more often. I’m gonna try for three times a week, though that might be overly ambitious. A lot of it will depend on if I have anything to share, which I often don’t, but we’ll see. If I have no real news, I’ll probably post quotes or I’m also thinking about doing quickie reviews of books or movies or comics. Not totally sure yet, but we’ll see. I’m thinking Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, I’ll have something for you. Whether it will be exciting or not remains to be seen.

But anyway, here it is, my first Tuesday update, which I hope finds you well and happy and reading some great fiction.

See you Thursday!

Mad love,
g.

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first. You can take away a man’s political freedom and you won’t hurt him- unless you take away his freedom to feel. That can destroy him. That kind of freedom can’t be granted. Nobody can win it for you.”

“Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself – and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That’s what real love amounts to – letting a person be what he really is.” – Jim Morrison

While I’m busy calculating the winners of my Holiday Giveaway, I thought some of you Kindle fans might like another freebie. For a limited time only, you can head over to Amazon and download the e-edition of my novel Sky Tongues for free.

Soon, it will go back to its full $2.99 price, so if you’ve ever thought you might want to check it out-or my work in general-now is your chance. And don’t forget, even if you don’t have a Kindle, there’s always Kindle for PC.

A lot of folks really like Sky Tongues and if you’re a fan of the weird stuff, you probably will too. I hope so anyway and if you do, please keep in mind that honest reviews are always appreciated.

Ok, back to work for me and again, have a great holiday season!

Hey all! Hope you’re having a great week so far. I just wanted to mention a fund raising group that my friend Andrew Wolter runs: The Horror Against AIDS Toy Drive. Please head on over to the site, read about it and donate something if you can. No amount is too small. And if you can’t make a donation, just spreading the word would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help out in any way and to Andrew for putting the whole thing together. It’s a great cause!

And don’t forget to enter my giveaway if you haven’t already. Free books! Just check out the post below.

See ya soon!

Crazy Holiday Giveaway!

Hey guys! How’s everyone doing today? The weekend treating you well? I’ve been pretty busy with work stuff, getting ready for the holidays and a nice long vacation but I’ve decided to do something I’ve never done before: give books away for the holidays!

I’m going to hold a huge giveaway contest, with the winner receiving every print book I’ve written that I have in my possession (which I think is all of them)- even the out of print stuff. That’s something like 12 books! They’ll be signed and/or inscribed or neither, if that’s how you want them.

I’ll also have three runner-up winners that’ll get to choose one of several available titles.

The contest will run from right now until Sunday, December 18, 2011, 12 midnight, PST.

And here is all you have to do to be entered: reply to this post saying you wish to be entered and be sure to leave me a way to contact you. Email, facebook, whatever. Only one entry per person, but as an added bonus, IF you share the contest on facebook or twitter (and provide a link as proof) you can earn more entries, one for every time you share it.

The winners will be chosen at random and notified on Monday, December 19 and will have 72 hours to respond.

I hope you all enter and wish you lots of luck!

Thanks and have a great day! 🙂

Metahumans vs the Undead: A Superhero vs Zombie Anthology

Hey all! Just popping in to let you know I have a brand new story in the just released anthology Metahumans vs the Undead. My story is called “Halo of Blood” and it features a character  I think you’ll be seeing a lot more of in the not-too-distant future. I’m sharing a TOC with a lot of great writers, including Eric S. Brown, Keith Gouveia, Lorne Dixon and many more. So, if you dig either superheros and/or zombies, you should be in undead, caped heaven with this book.

I hope you guys check it out soon in either paperback or Kindle. Thanks and have an amazing weekend!

I’ve been thinking a lot about my upbringing and the trouble I had in school and how I was treated at home because of that trouble. The song above has always spoken volumes to me. It hits home every time I hear it and I’m so grateful now that children are less frequently subjected to abuse for being “stupid” or “stubborn” or whatever those labels used to be. It sucked and was painful and still affects me to this day. Those scars stay with you, no matter how old you get. But now we know more about learning disabilities and hopefully parents are better informed and equipped to handle such things. Lord knows my parents were not.

Anyway, here is what Eddie Vedder said about the song “Daughter”:

” The child in that song obviously has a learning difficulty. And it’s only in the last few years that they’ve actually been able to diagnose these learning disabilities that before were looked at as misbehavior, as just outright rebelliousness. But no one knew what it was. And these kids, because they seemed unable or reluctant to learn, they’d end up getting the shit beaten outta them. The song ends, you know, with this idea of the shades going down—so that the neighbors can’t see what happens next. What hurts about shit like that is that it ends up defining peoples’ lives. They have to live with that abuse for the rest of their lives. Good, creative people are just fucking destroyed.”

Some people just learn differently than others and despite all that happened back then, I consider myself a success. My favorite line of the song is also the title of this post.

I’ll probably talk more about this in future posts as it’s become an important topic to me. Feel free to skip them if you like.

Thanks for reading and I hope you’re having a great week.

Outside the US customers, please email me for amount. Keep in mind that supplies are limited and I expect them to go fast. Email me your order at ginaranalli@hotmail.com to find out if I have stock left. If so, then I’ll send you my paypal address. I’ll keep a running update of books sold out on Facebook and Twitter.

I’d really appreciate if you help spread the word about this sale, via your facebook, twitter, google+ or whichever social networking site you may use. (Plug the crap out of it! Yeah!)

Thanks to all and I hope you have an outstanding and safe holiday!
