New Book Deal

Hey kids! How are you all today? Are you in the holiday spirit or, like me, barely aware that it’s even happening? It’s Monday morning here in the pacific northwest-gray and wet, as usual. Kinda nice if you live the vampire life like I do. I’m barely awake and haven’t had any coffee yet, but it will be my reward for doing this blog post. Yay!

Have you noticed I’m rambling? Delaying gratification for all involved, I suppose.

But anyway, on to the news!

I’m absolutely beyond stoked to announce a new partnership between myself and Raw Dog Screaming Press , one of my most favorite presses of all time. STOKED! I’ve always dreamed of working with them, but never thought it would really happen. But now it has and together we will be bringing you not one, not two, but THREE books by me in the near future. What will those books be? You’ll have to watch this space for that answer, but I’m pretty sure if you like my stuff, you’re gonna dig them all.

This is an amazing holiday gift for me. The new year is looking brighter than ever. I hope this news makes some of you guys happy as well.

And now…COFFEE!

Happy holidays and, as two very wise sages would say, BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER!

new anthology announcement

How about a quickie?

Very happy to let you guys know that I have new short story coming out in an anthology called Ante Mortem, which is now available for pre-order over on the Belfire Press site. I’ve been so swamped writing novels that it feels good to have something short coming into the world again. The story is called “To Survive the Beginning” and if you want a hint as to what it’s about, here it is: the letter Z.

So, go order that bad boy. Nothing but good times ahead! And I’ll be back tomorrow with even bigger news. Watch the skies!

November, 2011

I am happy to be making a new book announcement today!

November 2011 will see the release of a different kind of novel from me, called Off. No horror to be found, but it’s definitely a little on the strange side. I’m not even sure how to describe it. Absurdism, I guess.

It’s about a woman who is devastated after a break-up and tries to kill herself and things get really strange from there. I know that probably sounds horrific, but you’ll see. Hopefully it’s humorous.

Anyway, Off will be coming out from Belfire Press and I’m very happy about that. They’re publishing some of my favorite authors and I’m really looking forward to working with them. They’re great folks over there, so do seek them out!

Sorry if this entry is a little disjointed. I just woke up and need more coffee.

Love, love love!

13 Thorns

Today is a day of sad news. Like most of the other books offered by Afterbirth Books, my books 13 Thorns and Chemical Gardens will going out of print on December 14. Gardens we might see again at some other point in time, but in a different incarnation, so if you like the current packaging and haven’t yet grabbed yourself a copy you might want to do that toot sweet.

But, with the exception of a Kindle edition that may or may not happen, 13 Thorns is going to that Great Library in the Sky. The short stories within will never be reprinted anywhere else.

For those of you who have signed copies of either book, good on ya! They might be collector’s items someday. πŸ™‚

Also, if you have copies and want them signed, you can get in touch with me and we’ll make that happen for you.

I hope to have more news soon. It will be better too.

Love you guys!

Popping in quickly to share a new review of my book Mother Puncher, courtesy of I Read Odd Books. It’s always interesting to see who likes what and why and I always appreciate hearing people’s honest thoughts on my stuff. Huge thanks to the reviewer!

More news will be coming soon, I promise. For now, it’s back to work for me.

Hope you guys are enjoying the holiday season! Love each other and give out lots of hugs!

Once in a Lifetime?

I hope not, but for today, I can say I’ve beat Stephen King on a list of ‘Best Of’ horror titles for the year. Crazy, right? Yes, but true! Over on The Authors Speak my novel House of Fallen Trees has the honor of being the number one pick of the Toppers in Horror Fiction 2010. And, even better than that, also making the list are some of my own favorites, including David Agranoff, Brian Keene, Douglas Clegg and the aforementioned King himself.

Pretty sweet! And because it may never happen again, I think I’ll celebrate the hell out of it today. Hope you guys join me by picking up a copy of the book, as well as the other books on the list. After all, Christmas is right around the corner and you’ll be giving to us, the writers, as well as to family and friends, which would certainly improve the year for all of us!

So, major thanks to The Authors Speak. Definitely give their website a browse, if you haven’t already. Great interviews can be found as well as reviews.

Love to all!

New Interview

Hey gang! New interview up, conducted by the mega-talented and prolific Eric S. Brown. Thanks, Eric! Thanks also to Naked Snake Press for hosting it.

In other news, I have a LOT of hustling to do this month, so I’ll probably not be around online quite as much. I’ll try to pop in now and then to share any tidbits of info I might have, but I’ll mostly be keeping my nose to the grindstone in order to meet three different deadlines.

Can you spare a canoe? We’re drowning up here in Seattle today. Hope you guys are staying dry!

And one more thing: Happy November, NaNoWriMos! Write like the demons of Hell are nipping at your butt! Good luck!

“The Devil doesn’t make us do anything. The Devil, for example, doesn’t make us mean. Rather, when we’re mean, we make the Devil. Literally. Our actions create him. Conversely, when we behave with compassion, generosity, and grace, we create God in the world.” – Tom Robbins

β€œThis is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body.” – Walt Whitman
