I’ve decided to take a break this weekend. Instead of working on the stuff I’m supposed to be working on, I’m going to write something just for me, just for fun. I haven’t done that for ages and, honestly, it’s starting to get to me. Yes, of course, I know I’m way beyond blessed to have publishers and editors wanting various things from me, but always doing work for someone else takes it’s toll after a while. It stops being fun. There is too much worry and pressure to have your work fit someone else’s idea of what the project should look like.
Mind you, this isn’t a bitching rant. I love what I do and I love the folks I work with. But I’ve found that you need to stop working and start playing every so often. Then you can come back fresh and rejuvenated. So, that’s what I’m doing. Maybe what I come up with will see the light of day some day, but if not, I’m cool with that. This one is for me.
I suggest you guys do some playing yourselves. It’s a new month. Start it right, if you can. And, if you see me around on the internet, swear at me unmercifully because it probably means I’m working in some capacity. Probably promoting or networking.
So, GO! Don’t be a dull boy (or girl.)
